Mindful Listening

Listening mindfully includes the following


1. Listening with the heart – empathic listening
2. Putting our thoughts, feelings, and values on hold
3. Being present in the here and now without judgment or giving advice
4. Giving our full attention to the speaker
5. Withholding our desire to speak and making space for the speaker to share
6. Fully engaging ourselves not in what we are thinking or feeling but rather in what it is like for the other person
7. Using positive body language and focusing on the person who is speaking
8. Not interrupting the speaker
